Who is CELA of Southern Nevada?

CELA is a non profit, grassroots organization that exists to
1.  Act as a resource for expectant parents in Southern Nevada to access independent childbirth educators, birth and postpartum doula's, breastfeeding specialists, and cesarean prevention advocates, as well as help them locate other local birth and parenting needs.
2.  Act as a support group and networking body for aspiring and practicing birth professionals.


What Does the CELA Organization Do?

1.  Provide referrals,support, and networking opportunities to expectant parents
2.  Host local parent workshops and professional trainings. 
3.  Support local and national birth and parenting causes and events that promote healthy,  scientifically based birth, parenting, and health practices


What are CELA's Standards of Practice?

CELA does not provide training or certifying to birth professionals, but strives to provide opportunities locally for training and continuing education credits.  Additionally, CELA maintains a high caliber of membership who practice in harmony with the specific member's national certifying body’s scope of practice and ethics:

While although we do not "police" each other or hold reviews, a certain level of professionalism and courtesy is required between members and with the general public and clientele.

CELA was formed out of the need to increase professionalism and networking of childbirth educators and doulas in Southern Nevada.

CELA is not a medical or midwifery organization, and therefore members refrain from giving medical advice to clientele.  Rather, members are encouraged to provide their clientele with the tools and resources necessary to become educated and achieve a safe and satisfying birth.
